Our Glitch Captain, is a clone of the EQD Bit Commander, a monophonic analog guitar synthesizer that works great with bass guitar as well.  
 
The sound starts with a square wave fuzz which is split into three octaves that can be balanced with an individual control on each.  Base signal, one octave down, two octaves down and a dirty octave up driven by a transformer, just like an octavia. Then add the filter control for unlimited experimenting. 
 
This effect is not precise, it glitches in the best possible way, tracking well past the 7th fret and higher, it is often considered a more versatile MXR Blue Box.
