The Box-A-Lator is an active effects loop for pedals/amps with a signal attenuator, and a 24 dB clean boost. Its orgin starts with Dumble, JHS, and a box seen on John Mayer's pedal board marked "a box later". Our offering was designed by Ryan Colgan at The Tone Geek, after he did extensive work researching that box, and his work is most excellent. 
 
 
Features
 
Level controls- Attenuate a hot pedal signal. Why?This preserves the dynamics of the second drive, rather than saturating and compressing it. You can now lower the hot output of a drive pedal you have stacked with another drive pedal, before it hits the second pedal (Tubescreamer into Klon, in John's case). 
Clean boost-  use to boost a low output drive, like a Bluesbreaker (or our Black and Bluesbreaker), or use it to raise the level at the beginning or end of your pedalboard.
For an ultra clean boost, set Drive/Recover to 100% and adjust boost to your liking. 
Adjustable Internal impedance trim pots- factory set to 1M input and 10k output impedance, great for most setups but adjustable to your taste
Buffers- one buffer on the Send jack, one buffer on the Out jack. 
Turn multiple pedals off/on with a single footswitch by placing your effects in the effects loop
Adjustable LED brightness via internal trim pot (default is set to medium)
 
Use it like a Dumbleator:
Turn your preamp all the way UP and then dial it back with our Box-A-Lator so your don't oversaturate the power section.
Connect it to your amp effects loop to add post preamp effects down long cable runs.

This circuit requires a 9v 100mA input and internally DC to DC converts to a bipolar +/-15vdc power supply for absolute maximum headroom. 
ONLY use a standard 9v DC power supply with (-) negative tip polarity
